Ernst Mach: physicist and photographer

source: http://www.bath.ac.uk/ncuacs/FP_Fuessl.htm Ernst Mach (1838 – 1916) was influential as a physicist and philosopher of science in the late part of the 19th century and early part of the 20th century. He was one of the first to systematically investigate super-sonic motion using photographic techniques that he created in the early 1890s. The photographs of bullets in motion reveal (as shadows) the waves produced as the bullet approaches and surpasses the speed of sound. Links: Deutsches Museum E.
